The Berkeley Free Clinic

is a volunteer -based, non-profit organization, which has been providing much-needed medical, dental, counseling, HIV testing, and other services since 1969. The Berkeley Community Health Project, Inc., as it is legally known, has also been a major force in health education, running extensive training programs for volunteers and others in the community.

The band members first met through their volunteer work at the Free Clinic.
